Wandering around Lake Titisee!

Day 3: Strasbourg ➡️  Black Forest ➡️  Engelberg

After a gorgeous day spent at Strasbourg, we readied ourselves to pack our stuff for whole lotta exploring to do! The tour guide briefed us about the program for that day. "Today, we will have breakfast in France, lunch in Germany and dine at Switzerland", he mentioned joyously. Sounded like an impressive plan.

A typical breakfast at the hotel of twenty choices of bread and condiments were placed at the breakfast counter. That's when I get very indecisive. Is it just me or does this happen to everyone?

The coach then left for Lake Titisee, which is located in the Black Forest.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a bunch of kaleidoscopic flowers and jam-packed roads. We also got to see the dreamy views of the glimmering alpine lake along with the wooden boats on the shore. The area was filled with extravagant cafés and souvenir shops. Very touristy, however, I was looking forward to the lakeside walk which wasn't the case. It's still worth visiting though!

Later on, we stopped by the Rhine Falls. It's one of the largest waterfalls in Europe. This place felt like the perfect summer getaway! Here you see the teal-green water outpouring over the rocks, and descending over to the other side aggressively. So aggressively that you could get sprayed with mist if you were close enough...

Unfortunately, we couldn't take the round trip on the boat due to the lack of time. Despite that, we did take a stroll along the elevated pathway and snapped some pictures.

The next stop was at the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne. Here's a FUN FACT...when we reached the border, we had pay taxes to enter Switzerland.

This wooden footbridge was first built in the 1300's. However, it had to be reconstructed due to the fire almost burning the entire bridge down in 1993.

The interior paintings on the crossbeams exhibited the history of Lucerne. As we strolled along, we couldn't help but pause and appreciate the view of the Reuss River.

Our last stop of the day was at the Lion Monument, which was a few steps away from the Chapel Bridge.

The Lion monument is the sculpture of a wounded lion. This symbolically represented the sacrifice of the Swiss army, which is displayed by the pain and sorrow on the lion's face. The Latin sentence engraved on top of the sculpture says "HELVETIORUM FIDEI AC VIRTUTI". This means "To the loyalty and bravery of the Swiss". It is indeed a remarkable carving that has been praised by a lot of visitors.

After clicking some images of the majestic sculpture, it was time to head over to Engelberg! I couldn't wait for the next day, as it was gonna be the first time for me to ever experience an icy mountain.

Then, we ate dinner and stayed at the hotel.....just staring at the captivating views from the balcony.
